Exclusive Video for Subscribers - Insights from Raker-Roberta's Trials

Seth Reed

As a Darwin Perennials Blog Subscriber (and all-round curious member of the industry), I’m happy to share with you exclusive, members-only content filmed at our week 35 visit to Raker-Roberta’s trial gardens in Litchfield, Michigan.

Chris Fifo and I toured the Raker-Roberta’s grounds checking up on Darwin Perennials’ overwintered beds and comparison row trials, taking notes for YOU, our interested audience, to help you make the best perennial selections for the next growing season.

Some highlights about our visit? Glad you asked!

1) The overwintered beds are really coming into their own and are quite impressive, especially a few years in. Perovskia CrazyBlue, Nepeta Whispurr and Helopsis Summer Eclipse were truly stunning.

2) The new Kniphofia Glowstick was flowering so well this late in the season, and there was an obvious difference between Glowstick and traditional kniphofia. It’s an obvious choice to try something new and successful.

3) Planting the Veronica Skyward Pink and Blue together was an unexpectedly charming design choice! Did Chris do it on purpose? Who knows, but they looked fantastic together. Give it a try.

Allow me to say it again: The video above is specially available just for you. So thank you for subscribing and following our Blog! Want more exclusive content? Let us know at info@darwinperennials.com or send us a note in the comments section.

If you haven’t spent some time at Raker-Roberta’s, get it on your must-see list for next year. Local trials are the best way to see the latest perennial upgrades in-action.

The Skyward Veronica look great! I love seeing the genetic improvements that are better for growers in the Darwin Perennials line-up!
