Trial Updates: Caryopteris

Brad Harvey
Former Darwin Product Representative

Last summer at our scheduling trials in West Grove, Pa., one of the standouts was Caryopteris Grand Bleu and Caryopteris Gold Crest (new for 2020).

Caryopteris is an underutilized perennial class and brings much needed late Summer and Fall flowering to the landscape. Gold Crest can even be used as a foliage item during the late Spring and Summer.

The trials below gave us excellent timing and production schedules:

Caryopteris Gold Crest

Group 4
Planted: Week 26

Group 5
Planted: Week 28

Perfect for summer sales and as an accent plant throughout the season. Nice, tight mounded habit. Foliage doesn't burn.

Compact, upright habit is great in the landscape and perfect for maximizing shipping space. Will bloom from August to October.
