MANTS 2024

Marion Meesenburg

MANTS, known as the Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show, “Means Business” … and a lot of business took place at the Darwin Perennials booth #500 Jan. 10-12 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

MANTS celebrated its 54th year with record numbers. There were over 11,200 attendees, including exhibitors. The event is huge, yet so many are able to connect with familiar faces, making it very welcoming.

We had landscapers, garden writers, retail garden centers, growers, landscape architects, distributor reps, and nurseries stop in to chat about perennials, what’s trending, and they shared their own stories.

Our Centaurea Silver Swirl and Echinacea Double Scoop Raspberry Deluxe were two very hot topics. The Silver Swirl drew people in – just like it’s supposed to when used in the landscape and in containers! They could not resist touching it and commenting on its softness and durability. The Echinacea Double Scoop Raspberry Deluxe also received a lot of attention and positive comments.

In addition, we had a Better Versions display, which was a great talking-piece to tell the story of how better genetics are now available to bring greater success in the landscape and ultimately to the consumer. Salvia ‘Blue By You’, Nepeta Junior Walker, and Lavender ‘SuperBlue’ are the Better Version choices. They are proven to be better performing and are available!

MANTS jump-started the year for Darwin Perennials with great networking, collaboration, and optimism. I have a feeling we are going to have an outstanding Spring!
