What's blooming in the garden now?

Sarah Swofford

Darwin Perennials supplies "Perennials With Staying Power". This means outstanding in-ground performance from our perennials is a MUST! The Darwin Perennials garden is one of the many locations across North America where our product is trialed in-ground. By mid-August many perennial gardens are void of color but this isn’t the case in West Chicago. Just look at the proof!

Mirage Series, Salvia greggii (Planted in 2016)
The Mirage series S. greggii is loving the heat! This zone 7 perennial comes in nine colors, looks spectacular in mass, and the bees and hummingbirds love its flowers. Mirage has really filled out since being planted in the Darwin Perennials gardens this spring. In fact, Mirage Cherry Red has outgrown its sign — talk about flower power!

Heuchera Carnival Watermelon (Planted in 2014)
The Carnival heuchera series provides a perfect color solution for shade areas. In particular, Carnival Watermelon stands out with contrasting foliage color; watermelon red popping against bright green and silver tones. There’s no doubt about it, Carnival Watermelon is a shade showstopper!

Echinacea Double Scoop Bubble Gum (Planted in 2016)
Echinacea Double Scoop Bubble Gum is happily working overtime in the gardens; it bloomed during Darwin Perennials Day in June, and is now in bloom again, looking gorgeous as ever!

Lavandula angustifolia SuperBlue (Planted in 2015)
With its massive blooms, beautiful silver foliage and fresh lavender scent, “super” is the perfect word to describe this perennial! Don’t forget to stop and smell the SuperBlue!
