The Perennial Plant Association and All-American Selections awards teamed up this year to extend awards to two outstanding herbaceous perennials: Echinacea Sombrero® Baja Burgundy and Rudbeckia American Gold Rush.

Trials were completed over three years and through three tough winters!! An independent group of 24 judges conducted the trials and ultimately chose the winners.

Sombrero Baja Burgundy, introduced by Darwin Perennials, is hardy to zone 4. As a first-year flowering perennial, it is a great addition to any grower's program. Baja Burgundy is available at leading young plant suppliers including:
Ball Tagawa
Darwin Plants
Gulley Greenhouse
Pacific Plug & Liner
George Sant (Canada)
Emerald Coast Growers
Green Leaf Plants
Raker-Roberta's

We are also pleased to supply unrooted cuttings of the second winner, Rudbeckia American Gold Rush, out of Darwin Colombia. Bred by Intrinsic Gardens, Rudbeckia American Gold Rush blooms from July to September with vibrant yellow flowers and black centers. For more information please check out this link.
