SuperBlue Lavender Wins Silver Medal

This top performer wowed judges at Plantarium 2017 in The Netherlands.

Darwin Perennials is pleased to announce a Silver Medal win for L. angustifolia SuperBlue at this year’s Plantarium exhibit in The Netherlands. Submitted on behalf of our partner, Florensis, SuperBlue was amongst a few recognized novelties to receive a medal designation by the judges.

Judged by the Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society, new plants introduced at Plantarium are bred by companies both at home and abroad. According to the Plantarium website: “The presentation of new plants has attracted a great deal of interest from national and international trade visitors and trade press for many years.”

Plantarium is the leading international tree nursery trade fair with participants from 15 different countries and trade visitors from 48 countries. This year, around 300 exhibitors will showcase a wide range of the latest nursery products for the consumer market. Plantarium is an important platform for all the channels involved in the industry it represents.

Lavandula angustifolia ‘Balavurlu’ (SuperBlue) is a first-year flowering English lavender with large, dark blue flowers that bloom continuously until the frost. Suitable for landscapes as well as larger pots or containers. It was bred by Darwin Perennials in West Chicago, Illinois.
