When an obstacle or challenge presents itself in production, you can either wallow in misfortune OR you can turn it into a strategic opportunity. That’s how Darwin Perennials approached the restrictions leveled at us due to COVID-19 this past year as we planned our annual Darwin Perennials Day. Like most of you, we endured limits on travel, gathering capacity, and facility lock-downs. But that only made us more committed to providing our perennials customers the best possible DIGITAL solution to new-product education: Darwin Perennials University.

If you signed up and joined us this summer for our weekly email announcements, you were treated to access to over 62 videos scripted with you in-mind. Each of the 16 topics included top-notch guidance on Production, Transplanting and Finishing, as well as key features and benefits of the newest perennials ready to impress the end-user.

During our eight-week “summer semester,” Darwin Perennials University viewers watched +80 hours of the vegetative perennial videos. That tells us you’re hungry for knowledge on optimizing your perennial success! Don’t forget: Our Kieft Seed co-sponsor also contributed culture videos for this educational showcase. They’re all now available to you on-demand at our Darwin Perennials University archive, and they can be found at key product pages at the Darwin Perennials and Kieft Seed websites as you plan your 2022 perennial production schedule.

What were the top-watched topics? We have those numbers!
#1 Salvia Blue By You (propagation and transplanting)
#2 Transplanting Echinacea Sombrero
#3 NEW Buddleia Chrysalis
#4 Transplanting English & Spanish Lavender
#5 Leucanthemum White Lion from Kieft Seed

One other thing to mention: This season, Darwin Perennials invested time and effort into providing Spanish translation for its vegetative perennial videos. If you have Spanish-speaking team members interested in getting the same culture guidance on the new intros for 2022, share these videos with them! Play the YouTube playlists on your breakroom TV or text them the links to the playlists below. When product education is made inclusive and a team priority, the whole industry wins!

While our summer session of training has come to an end, we intend to build upon this education. And Darwin Perennials would love to hear from you! Please take a moment to write us a comment below, or send us an email with topics or challenges you would like Chris or Darren to address in upcoming videos. Our team looks forward to helping you and your staff grow better perennials.
