On June 19, Darwin Perennials hosted vendors, customers, retailers, sales representatives and landscape professionals at the Darwin Perennial trial beds in West Chicago, IL. As usual, the perennial comparison beds were the highlight of the day. Visitors were able to compare and contrast the newest lineup of Darwin Perennials varieties along with row trial comparisons in Phlox paniculata, Coreopsis, Dianthus, and Salvia nemorosa.
Guests also had the opportunity to hear from Richard Hawke, of the Chicago Botanic Garden. He shared top-rated perennials from CBG trials. Check out the full presentation here.
Many of our grower attendees also enjoyed listening to the afternoon presentation by Dr. Todd Cavins and Chris Fifo. They tag-teamed suggestions on growing a successful perennial program in a talk titled “Grow Like a Pro”. Here is a link to their presentation.
Other highlights included displays of seed and vegetative lavender from Kieft Seed and Darwin, a new Herb patio program called Herb-A-Licious, a Salvia scheduling area, and of course the latest displays of new varieties from Darwin Perennials and Kieft Seed.
