If there was a competition between California Spring Trials and our Darwin Perennials Day to see “best perennials at the best time of year” our June event in West Chicago would win by a landslide!

Hosting visitors rain or shine, we are expecting over 400 guests June 21. The event is VERY focused for perennial wholesalers, growers, retailers, buyers and landscapers from every state. You'll see genetics from Kieft Seed, Darwin Perennials, and Star Roses and Plants. More than 30 perennial vendors will come to The Gardens at Ball to answer your questions in an outdoor trade show setting.

Perennial customers have enjoyed walking our in-ground beds over the past six years, and they’ll see both new plantings and overwintered beds this year. As for education, Bob Blew from Centerton Nursery, and Greg Soles from Darwin Perennials are our guest speakers this year with topics on profitability and plant selection. In addition, tours of our Premier Seed Lab are available for the curious.

This no-charge event is open to the trade only and starts at 8:00 AM and winds down by 3:00 PM. Afterward, you’ll find me at the Morton Arboretum enjoying a cocktail and music on their patio "Woods & Wine" event. Our facilities are only 20 minutes from this beautiful venue. Make a day and evening of it! If you’re flying in, we can provide you with a list of additional local horticultural attractions to make your visit complete.
