40 million cuttings and counting

Mike Klopmeyer - Former Darwin Perennials General Manager

On Thursday, Nov. 5, our fellow employees at Darwin Colombia gathered for a celebration for harvesting and shipping over 40 million unrooted perennial cuttings from the farm outside of Bogota. What a grand occasion for Darwin Colombia!

Over 240 people gathered in the lunch room to hear a short thank-you speech from Cristina Brusco, the General Manager, and from me. Google Translate is an amazing program that was able to translate my speech into Spanish but I still had to read it! After a few laughs from the audience, I was able to get through it. Each employee received a Darwin Colombia commemorative pen for their efforts.

Over 100 of the people in attendance are new to the farm and we wanted to welcome them to the company and show our appreciation for a job well done. There is huge potential to grow our business here and a lot of activity is underway to achieve this goal. Please see some images from the party and our construction of a new centralized water treatment and fertilization building. Special thanks to Gus Tassara, Jacco Kuipers and Karl Batschke who are helping to provide advice to our Darwin Colombia team.
